Café de Huehuetenango
We are a group of farmers of the Association of Small Coffee Farmers (UPC in Spanish) that was formed on July 29, 1998 in Huehuetenango. We have a presence in the communities of Huicá, Santo Domingo, El Jutal, Cerro Verde, El Cecilar, El Trapichillo, Champén, Huixóc, San Isidro, Los Taralles, Los Chucles, La Esperancita, Nueva Viña, Los Hernández, and Oxbé, located in the municipalities of La Libertad, San Pedro Necta and La Democracia.

We have 124 active members, both men and women. We grow coffee at an altitude that ranges between 1,300 and 1,700 meters above sea level. We produce the following coffee varieties: Borbon, Caturra, Catauí and Maragogype, all of them grown under the shade of native trees, such as Ingas and Gravileas that together with the altitude give the Huehuetenango coffee the Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) quality. We produce 131 hectares of which a part has been certified as organic coffee and another part under the modality of fair trade.
